Targeted therapy for vulvovaginal atrophy
AbstractThe aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the moisturizer based on natural plant extracts and hyaluronic acid in the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy.
Material and methods. The prospective study included data from 30 patients aged 24 to 72 years with varying degrees of vulvovaginal atrophy. All patients underwent vulvoscopy, colposcopy, vaginal pH determination, and microscopic examination of a vaginal smear for flora before and after 3 months of the gel usage. The vaginal health index, the severity of vulvovaginal atrophy symptoms using the VSQ questionnaire, and the vaginal maturation index were assessed.
Results. After a repeated study, patients using the emollient showed an improvement in their quality of life, which was assessed using the VSQ questionnaire. An objective improvement in the health of the vulvovaginal area of women was also revealed according to the results of colposcopic and vulvoscopic examinations.
Conclusion. The use of the moisturizing gel Intimate Rose based on natural plant extracts and hyaluronic acid can be considered a good method of therapy and prevention of vulvovaginal atrophy. The use of this gel significantly improves the quality of life of patients with this pathology.
