First study of using fluorescent visualization of deep infiltrative endometriosis in laparoscopy

Abstract

This study describes the first experience of using intraoperative fluorescent visualization of the surgical field during endoscopic surgical treatment of patients with deep infiltrative endometriosis in order to objectify the boundaries of the abnormal focus and increase the radicality of surgical treatment. It is known that the gold standard for diagnosis and treatment of external genital endometriosis is laparoscopy. However, even in this case, assessing the depth of invasion of the nodule is difficult. Near-infrared fluorescence navigation using indocyanine green has the potential to assist surgeons in the endoscopic treatment of extensive forms of external genital endometriosis.
