Abstract

Over the past decade rates of metabolic syndrome have increased significantly worldwide and in most countries around the world this non-communicable disease has become a major health threat in the modern world. The article discusses complications of pregnancy, labor, the postpartum period, as well as perinatal complications in patients with metabolic syndrome and possible pathogenetic mechanisms of their formation.

Keywords:Metabolic syndrome; obesity; preeclampsia; gestational diabetes mellitus; cesarean section; diabetic fetopathy; macrosomia
