A singlecenter retrospective safety study of myomectomy during caesarean section
AbstractAbstract
The need of myomectomy during cesarean section is contraversive because it can be associated with high risk of haemorrhage, blood transfusions and surgical complications. At the same time, a number of studies demonstrate the safety of simultaneous caesarean section with fibroid enucleation.
A retrospective analysis of 120 operations performed for 2020–2022 in obstetric department of the Moscow City Clinical Hospital 52. We investigate the effectiveness and safety of myomectomy during caesarean section, features of surgical operation, the probability of complications. The patients were divided into three groups. In the first group, cesarean section was combined with myomectomy, in the second group, uterine fibroid remained intact, and in patients of the third group, myoma were not detected, performed cesarean section.
The study demonstrated the absence of significant differences in the first and second groups in the frequency of complications and the need of blood transfusion, as well as the hemoglobin level after surgical treatment (p>0.05). Considering that the average age of the patients was 35.2±5.3 years, the simultaneous operation allows to shorten the interpregnancy interval with no serious complications due to simultaneous caesarean section with myomectomy.
