Vasa praevia type 2: antenatal ultrasound diagnostics and obstetrical tactics (clinical case)

Abstract

Vasa praevia (VP) is a rare, irreversible obstetric phenomenon that increases the risk of serious pregnancy complications, including fetal death. Without timely antenatal detection, VP can lead to rapid bleeding from fetal vessels with natural or induced rupture of the membranes. VP can be of three types (the rarest are types 2, 3). To improve the diagnosis, transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound Сolor Doppler Imaging is used. This article presents a clinical case of a successful pregnancy outcome on the background of VP type 2.
