Nutrition therapy in managing pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the number of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). GDM in pregnant women is associated with an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, complications during childbirth, and subsequently type 2 diabetes mellitus. Lifestyle modification is essential for the prevention of GDM. Diet therapy is one of the main methods of treating the disease. The article discusses modern ideas about the role of diet therapy in the treatment of GDM.
