Perspectives in menopausal hormone therapy in women with genital prolapse

Abstract

The aim of the research. Research of scientific literature in the aspect of the use of estrogen replacement therapy in patients with genital prolapse to improve the outcomes of the disease.

Material and methods. The PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases were searched for reviews, clinical trials, and observational studies on the treatment of genital prolapse with the use of drugs containing estrogens until 2021.

Results. Numerous studies indicate the effective use of local vaginal estrogen therapy for the treatment of genital prolapse, the use of systemic estrogen replacement therapy demonstrates the dominance of negative effects over benefits.

Conclusion. Research in the field of conservative management of patients with genital prolapse with the use of estrogen replacement therapy is an urgent direction in the prevention of genital prolapse and improvement of treatment outcomes in women with this disease.
