Clinical and anamnestic features of pregnant women with obesity

Abstract

Aim. To identify the clinical and anamnestic features of obese pregnant women in the I trimester living in Moscow.

Material and methods. The study was conducted at the clinical base of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the course of Perinatology of the Medical Institute of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in the branch of the Women’s consultation of the City Clinical Hospital # 29 named after N.E. Bauman. 52 obese pregnant women were examined, who were stratified into two groups depending on the degree of obesity (I or II).

Results. Gynecological and extragenital diseases were more common in pregnant women with obesity of the first degree, whereas smoking before pregnancy was more common in pregnant women with obesity of the second degree. Statistical analysis showed: 1) the older the woman, the higher the weight and body mass index (BMI); 2) the higher the BMI, the higher the risk of developing preeclampsia and fetal growth retardation during pregnancy.

Conclusion. Based on the data obtained, it is recommended to revise the management tactics of obese women, in particular, to give correct recommendations on nutrition and lifestyle, to conduct a thorough examination of such patients.
