Mesh-associated complications in gynecology

Abstract

A review of the medical and scientific literature, randomized trialsonthe use of mesh technologies in gynecology, as well as mesh-associated complications in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse is the subject of this article.

Mesh surgery is used on the basis of the characteristics of each clinical case and is indispensable in the fight against pelvic floor pathologies. Along with the preservation of anatomicality, the preservation of the functionality of the pelvic organs is fundamental in gynecology. Such innovative approaches as synthetic prosthetics increase the effectiveness of the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, in particular genital prolapse. The use of mesh technologies in gynecology significantly reduces the risk of developing pathologies and relapses. However, in the practice of using mesh technologies, there is a specific complication associated with synthetic prosthetics.
