Genetic aspects of pelvic organ prolapse in women of different age groups
AbstractPelvic organ prolapse (POP) is an urgent health problem today. The prevalence of POP does not tend to decrease. Few works on the genetic causation of pelvic organ prolapse prompted us to study this problem.
The aim of the study was to identify a genetic predisposition to POP in women. A prospective comparative study was conducted. Our cohort included patients with different degrees of prolapse. We studied polymorphism of genes ACTN3, SOD2, CAT, MMP9, MMP12 by PCR. In the course of our study, no obvious genetic determinants of the development of POP were identified, since the predominance of normal gene polymorphisms in the studied sample was noted.
