Uterine fibroids, reproductive health of women after surgical treatment

Abstract

Background. Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumor in women of reproductive age. It is often the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding (UBH), pelvic pain and reproductive disorders: infertility and miscarriage. Widespread organ-preserving surgeries for uterine fibroids often do not lead to pain relief and AMC, and arealso associated with unfavorable perinatal outcomes: a high incidence of preterm birth and miscarriage.

The aim of the study was to analyze modern scientific publications on the prevalence of fibroids, the causes of abnormal uterine bleeding against the background of fibroids, and the state of women's reproductive health after myomectomy.

Material and methods. Articles over the past 15 years from PubMed, Embase, Medline, Cochrane databases, including case series and registries related to AMC, reproductive disorders associated with uterine fibroids, and long-term outcomes after myomectomy.

Conclusion. In women, after myomectomy, AMK, pain and reproductive disorders often persist. This requires new research in this area, with the aim of developing comprehensive methods for improving the health of women with fibroids.
