Organic acids and their metabolites in forecasting fertility restoration prospects after non-developing pregnancy

Abstract

Background. Reproductive losses are not only a medical, but also a social problem, which is especially relevant now when there is a decrease in natural population growth. Particularly noteworthy is the problem of iodine and folic acid deficiency during pregnancy, as well as the principles of their correction. The Level of low molecular weight metabolites in blood serum, as possible markers of iodine deficiency and folic acid, was studied, and their role in the pathogenesis of non-developing pregnancy is discussed.

The aim of the study was to determine the prognostic value of organic acids and their metabolites as markers of the possibility of conceptual restoration of fertility after a non-developing pregnancy.

Results. The revealed changes in the profile of organic acids indicate dysfunction of the thyroid gland in conditions of iodine and folic acid deficiency and are markers for predicting early reproductive losses, including non-developing pregnancy. Overcoming a deficiency of iodine and folic acid in the preconception period after an undeveloped pregnancy is a marker of the possibility of the following concept.
