A modern view on the delivery terms and methods in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus

Abstract

The steady increase in pregnancy complications from gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a worldwide global problem. Despite greater attention being given to GDM by medical researchers no consensus has been reached on the optimal management tactics, timing, or methods of delivery concerning women with GDM. Although the algorithms and approaches for the management of pregnant women with GDM are reflected in the recommendations of international medical associations, the issue remains relevant and debatable. This article deals with the modern concepts of the delivery terms and methods concerning pregnant women with GDM.

Keywords:pregnancy, gestational diabetes mellitus, programmed delivery, induction of labour, risk factors, caesarean section
