Informativity of colposcopy in cervix inflammatory diseases

Abstract

Aim - to increase informativeness of in nonspecific inflammatory diseases of cervix uteri and vagina by usage of local therapy.

Material and methods. The study involved 53 patients applied for colposcopy. The mean age was 27.3±3.4 years. Menstrual function was not impaired in all cases. The average cycle duration was 28.4± 2.6 days at 5.1±1.7 days of the menstrual length. Patients have complaints of the different discharges from the genital tract. Colposcopy performed on Leisegang 3ML according to the standard procedure: consecutive survey, samples with 3% acetic acid and Schiller samples.

Results. Smears on the degree of purity of the vaginal discharge in 35 (66.04%) patients are represented by the III degree and in 18 (33.96%) by the IV degree. Cultures from the cervical canal - 32 (60.38%) patients were negative, and in 21 (39.62%) patients various pathogens were seeded. Colposcopy was characterized by diffuse (21 patients - 39.62%) or focal hyperemia of the epithelium (11 patients - 20.75%), white and red stippling and maculation (13 patients - 24.53%), inflammatory exudate (3 patients - 5.56%), pustules and vesicles (2 patients - 3.77%), contact hemorrhage (11 patients - 20.75%), and different nature discharges (47 patients - 88.68%), and in some cases, the defects of the epithelium. We used the wide spectrum antiseptic Dequalinium Chloride on 1 vaginal tablet during 6 days overnight. To restore the microflora the probiotic was administrated with micro dose of Estriol 1 vaginal tablet 6-12 days in the vagina overnight. Colposcopy findings became adequate without any difficulties in interpretation.

Conclusion. Colposcopy is the informative diagnostic method in cervical pathology. However, in case inflammatory diseases of the cervix and vagina it's distinguished by variety of signs: the presence of inflammatory reaction of intergumentary epithelium and stroma that complicates the correct assessment of colposcopic findings. The local therapy improves colposcopic assessment also promotes its correct interpretation.
