Long-term effects of profuse blood loss in childbirth

Abstract

Aim - to study the features of reproductive, somatic and psychological health of patients in the long-term period after profuse obstetrical hemorrhages to substantiate the need for their early active preventive medical examination.

Material and methods: The state of reproductive and somatic health of 84 patients in the Long-term period (2-2.5 years later) after experienced profuse obstetrical hemorrhages was studied. 1st group consisted of 39 women with preserved uterus, 2nd group included 45 patients who have undergone hysterectomy. Clinical, instrumental, and laboratory studies have been carried out. A comparative analysis of socio-psychological and personal characteristics has been carried out considering different outcomes of the critical state for the uterus and fetus. A comparative analy-sis of socio-psychological and personal characteristics has been carried out considering different outcomes of the critical state for the uterus and fetus. 67 out of 84 patients (79.8%) divided into 4 groups became voluntary participants. 1st group - 14 women with preserved uterus, but lossof a fetus, 2nd group - 21 patients with a favorable outcome for the fetus, but with loss of the uterus. 3rd group - 15 women with a combination of perinatal loss and hysterectomy. 4th group (control) - 17 patients with a favorable outcome of hemorrhage for the uterus and fetus. Psychological multidimensional research have been carried out in conjunction with a medical psychologist on the subdepression, situational and personal anxiety scales, using the "Analysis of family anxiety" questionnaire. Statistical data processing was performed using statistical computer program Statistica, Release 6.0 (StatSoft®Inc., USA, 2002). The commonly used confidence levels were used: p<0.05.

Results. The clinical and anamnestic determinants of impaired reproductive, somatic and psy-chological health of women in the long-term period after profuse obstetrical hemorrhages are clarified and the need for their early active preventive medical examination is scientifically based.
