Clinical guidelines in contemporary perspective

Abstract

In the near future, clinical guidelines must become the main regulator of clinician's actions and serves as a basic document in case of criminal or judicial prosecution. Review of the current clinical guidelines on Obstetrics in the Russian Federation shows the serious issue in this field - the current clinical guidelines are applicable to only a small proportion of daily clinical situations; and terms in some of the protocols sometimes can't be fulfilled. Current system defects can be overcome by improving the process of development and approval of clinical guidelines.
