Modern approach to the treatment of vulvovaginal infections

Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical and microbiological efficacy of the combined preparation for intravaginal Elgin injection in patients with chronic nonspecific and vulvovaginal candidiasis in women of reproductive age.

Material and methods. Clinico-laboratory examination of 127 patients in reproductive age from 18 to 40 years was carried out. Depending on the results of clinical course and laboratory data, all patients were divided into 2 groups: the 1st group consisted of 58 patients with a verified diagnosis of chronic nonspecific vulvovaginitis. The 2nd group included 69 patients with vulvovaginitis caused by fungi of the genus Candida. All patients received a combined preparation for intravaginal administration of Elgin for 6-9 days. The patients were monitored for 1 month. According to the study protocol, on the 7th day of treatment, 14 days and 1 month after the end of the treatment, clinical and microbiological monitoring of the patients' condition was carried out.

Results. After the treatment with intravaginal preparation Elzhina in patients of the 1st group with chronic nonspecific vulvovaginitis, in 14 days after the end of treatment pathological discharge from the genital tract was absent in 51 (87.9%) women, and after 1 month - in 54 (93.1%). In patients of the 2nd group with vulvovaginitis caused by fungi of the genus Candida 14 days after the end of treatment pathological discharge from the genital tract was absent in 59 (85.5%) patients, and after 1 month - in 89.8% of cases. Dysuric phenomena completely stopped after 7 days from the beginning of treatment. These indicators indicate a pronounced clinical effect.

Conclusion. It is established, that the domestic combined preparation Elzhina for intravaginal administration is highly effective drug, which is possessing anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anticandiosis action.
