Polycystic ovarian syndrome in the 21st century

AbstractPolycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most frequent endocrine diseases in women of reproductive age. In the review modern concepts of epidemiology and PCOS diagnosing criteria, its clinical phenotypes, complications and comorbid conditions are reflected. Key information concerning syndrome pathophysiology is represented. In addition, the article contains analysis of PCOS modern diagnostic methods and differential diagnosis in women of reproductive age and the section summarizing approaches to management of patients with different reproductive attitudes from a perspective of evidence based medicine.
