The ways to overcome the risk of maternal mortality
AbstractLethality in pregnancy is relatively rare outcome, though severe obstetric complications continue staying a major cause of maternal mortality (MM). Serious maternal diseases are increasingly present in the modern pregnancies. This review is based at the data of last foreign investigations aimed at the risk factors, which make potential severe obstetric complications grow higher (unsafe Cesarean Section (CS), inadequate anesthesiological care, low qualification of surgery, sepsis, associated with labor, pregnancy after previous CS, assisted reproductive technologies to overcome infertility). The article also covers risk conception, differences in understanding and risk assessment during pregnancy and the consequences (developing complications, late/ inadequate medical care), rational approach to risk assessment; possible means of overcoming of obstetric risks (individualized plan of obstetric care, upgrade of maternity hospital, issues of obstetric care for «very sick patients») are reviewed.
