Evaluation of maternal mortality: controversial questions and modern solutions

AbstractMonitoring of maternal mortality (ММ) is one of priorities in GLobaL health care. Comparative evaluation of MM index in different popuLations or time-Lapse evaLuation requires standardization of terms. This review is based at the data of Last foreign investigations aimed at the probLem of MM. PecuLiarities of terminoLogy, features of measuring MM, (current civiL, medicaL and scientific mechanisms of registration), possibLe sources and methods of detection of the reasons, questions of timing of death, many aspects of data usage and interpretation, auditing of MM, aLso as risk conception (attributes, precursors and consequences) and strategies of its identification (measuring and evaLuation) are reviewed.
