Comparison of the proliferative activity of ectopic endometrial cells from patients with primary and recurrent endometrioma
AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine proliferative activities of ectopic endometrial cells in primary and recurrent endometriomas.
Material and methods. Samples were obtained from 46 women with primary endometriomas and 15 with recurrence cysts. Thickness of slices was 4 mm. The resulting sections were stained in the usual manner with hematoxylin-eosin and subjected to optical microscopy using immersion objective with a total optical power 10 100. Quantitative indicators were presented as the median and 95% CI - confidence interval. Data were processed using the program Statistica 10.0, differences were considered significant at p<0.05.
Results. The thickness of gland in primary cysts was 0.02 (0.01-0.02), in recurrent 0.01 (0.0099-0.01), the thickness of cytoplasmic membrane in primary 0.0006 (0.0006-0.0007), in recurrent 0.0005 (0.0005-0.0006), the thickness of nuclear membrane in primary 0.0006 (0.0005-0.0006), in recurrent 0.0005 (0.0004-0.0005), the nuclear area in primary cysts was 0.00003 (0.00002-0.00003), in recurrent 0.00004 (0.00003-0.00004). The thickness of secretory part of cell in primary cysts was 0.005 (0.004-0.01), in recurrent 0.002 (0.002-0.003). Average brightness of the nucleus in primary cysts was 37.44 (35.81-38.27), in recurrent 26.02 (25.62-27.58). The average density of nucleus in primary cysts was 0.44 (0.44-0.47), in recurrent 0.61 (0.57-0.62). The Perimeter (diameter) of nucleus in primary cysts was 0.00075 (0.0007-0.0009), in recurrent cysts 0.0007 (0.0006-0.00077).
Conclusion. The increase in almost all morphometric parameters in the primary cysts to talk about higher proliferative activity of basal cells of ectopic endometrium primary compared with recurrent cysts.
