Uterine leiomyoma: recrudescence prognostic indexes after reconstructive plastic surgery

Abstract

Article present the results of research carried out on the operating material obtained after myomectomy in order to study the clinical and morphological factors that predicted uterine leiomyoma recrudescence in women of reproductive age after reconstructive plastic surgery are published. The results showed that uterine leiomyoma recrudescence is associated with the development of tumors from growth zones around the vessels in a saved myometrium – the so-called leiomyoma anlages in form of perivascular accumulation of smooth muscle cells, old scars (after myomectomy) and microscopic leiomyomas (were not diagnosed during the previous operation).
