Prophylaxix of preeclampsia – is that real?

Abstract

Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy influence negatively maternal and newborns’ health and are the reason of lethal complications in 9–25 % cases. The review widely covers prevention strategies for predicting preeclampsia (PE). Risk factors to form the high-risk group of patients developing hypertensive disorders are overviewed. Screening of PE in the first trimester of pregnancy is the basis of successful prophylaxis in this cohort because early pre-clinic diagnostic of PE may positively affect perinatal outcomes. Positive prognostic value of placental growth factor (PIGF), fms-like tyrosinekynase-1 and inhibin A for first trimester screening of PE are determined. Effectiveness of different therapeutic approach (folic acid, aspirin, calcium, antihypertensive drugs, low molecular heparins) for preventing PE in high-risk pregnancy is evaluated.
