One more view on medical aspects of combined oral contraceptive pills administration

Abstract

Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs) administrate not only for crisis pregnancy protection but also as an effective preventive (endometrial and ovarian cancer risk reduction, colorectal cancer, ovarian benign tumors, endometriosis, pelvic organs inflammatory diseases, ectopic pregnancy, postmenopausal osteoporosis) and therapeutic agent in combination therapy of some gynecological disorders (dysfunctional uterine bleedings, endometrium hyperplastic processes, dysmenorrhoea, hyperpolymenorrhea, ovulation pains, endometriosis, uterine fibroid, premenstrual syndrome, asiderotic anemia, polycystic ovarian syndrome). In the article mechanism of COCs action is described and bases of hormonal therapy in case of endometrial hyperplasia are given. This article was made with particular focus on COCs which include third generation progestogens. Advantages of gestodene action (part of lindynette – microdosed COC) in comparison with levonorgestrel are shown. Also it’s therapeutic intervention on endometrium. Gestodene is a good treatment-and-prophylactic medicinal agent in case of uterus hyperplastic processes.
